Hello my blogger’s friends, welcome to my site again!
On Thursday, August 8th I taught my fist class of
this semester and thanks God it was a pretty nice experience; I only got nervous
the day before but not the main day neither during the class, I guess the previous
experiences helped me to feel more confident and it was also a good day for me.
This period I’m teaching Intermediate II and they are a
large group of students; most of them are boys and it seems they like to joke
around, but they also like to work in class.
In regard with the lesson, I didn’t spend too much time creating
it because I only added a song, “You’re beautiful” by James Blunt, as a warm-up
and I took the rest of the activities from the teacher’s lesson; the activities
were from the controlled practice and they were nice, easy and quick to
develop.
At the beginning of the class, I thought that only a few
students were going to be in class because only a few of them were there on
time, the rest of them were late.
While I was introducing myself, some of the students were
not paying attention to me and they were kind of noisy, that never happened to
me before; it wasn’t that bad, but it was rare.
During the development of the first activity a few students
were with their cellphones so I asked them to keep them, that either happened
to me in the previous classes. Nevertheless, after checking the first activity,
I felt they started changing their attitude; they were paying attention to me
and to the activities, they behave and were participative. Thus, by the end of
the class, I could feel the connection I usually feel with my students;
something that can be described as mutual sympathy, and that was nice :).
Hi my dear, I can realize that most of us have been experiencing things that we didn´t during the first semester....what is nice about this, is the fact that we will face different situations in the classroom and this is definitely part of our training. Sometimes we feel sad or frustated, but at the end the most important thing is the experience we have in our minds!!!! I like the fact that you reach your goal at the end of the class, and that your Ss enjoyed it as well.!!! Congratulations my friend!!!
ReplyDeleteHello! This semester is a new experience, and I see that you have improved your skills as teacher. I am sure that you will always improve and manage different situations. COngratulations! Keep doing well :)! Your students enjoyed and so did you. Do not let any situation bring you down.
ReplyDeleteHello! Deysi
ReplyDeleteI liked the song you chose as a warm up activity because students really love to sing, and It also helps them to develop the listening skills. Regarding with some problems you had during the class, let me tell you that it is common because of their ages, but we have to be strict with them so that they can learn better. Congratulations you did a great job in general..BLESSINGS!!
Hy Deysi, I know those things always happen but there is a time when students reflect and change their attitudes, the point is that you continue with your planning. I have realized that by bringing music to the class students get more interested in it!!
ReplyDeleteNicely done!!!
Thanks for all your comments to all of you my friends :)
